Quick Overview Of BC Rich Warlock Electric Guitar

Rating: ★★★★½

As you may have noticed, this guitar was not made to please everyone at once – it is only for people with good taste. If you are looking to play some jazz or blues – you may consider picking some other model (maybe something from Fender or Gibson), but if you are here because you want to look like a true MF hard-rocker – you will beat yourself up if you walk past BC Rich Warlock.

The Features

As you may already have noticed, this BC Rich warlock guitar is built with a very unique body shape and is clearly geared towards metal and rock music.

For the price it asks, the quality you get is phenomenal, and the sound is compatible and sometimes even better than the sound of guitars that are $500 and more.

The Body Composition

Basically, BC Rich warlock is a type of axe shape guitar, with the bolt-on construction. It creates for a very unconventional, yet comfortable and cool design (it fits your legs nicely) and will definitely impress anyone who you will show it to. The body is made of Agathis, 45 mm thick, the fretboard is made of rosewood, the network is Marple, traditional inlays, glossy finish, black color.

By the way, we are talking about the bronze version of warlock (as you may know, there are several gradations of the series of the guitar, starting from the cheapest: Bronze, platinum, signature (and also custom-made).

The Sound

As it has been said, this guitar sounds better than most of the alternatives in the same price range, and you will definitely feel that the money you spend on it is justified. If you start off on the bridge pickup, you will get to hear its amazing “metal” sound. It’s resounding, impressive and jazzy – easily suitable for songs of Metallica, Slipknot and other heavy metal bands.

Add some aggression and you will have an incredibly good guitar for these purposes. Switch to the top, and the impressive jazzy sound is clean and penetrating. You can also play warlock on the clean mode. The top mode is bluesy, and it’s pleasant enough.

Looks

We’ve already covered it, but just look at the guitar if you forgot how it looks like – pretty rad instrument, isn’t it?

Comfort and Playability

No complaints about playing the guitar while sitting in one fell, as the axe shape fits very well with the shape of the legs. (You can even put the guitar between your legs in the 45 degrees up for its position, and it will still be balanced and stable.)

The only downside is that the design of the instrument makes the guitar a little bit unbalanced in its weight – their head is a bit too heavy, and if you put the strap on the instrument and try to play while standing, you might notice that there the guitar’s neck will slip and dip into the unbalance.

The Price

Two years ago you could find this guitar in Europe (that is where we first saw it) for about 170 euros. The prices have gone up, but again, there are still places where you can find pretty good bargains. We’ve recommended this to our friend, and he bought it on Amazon in September for somewhere around 193 bucks. Yes, you do need to wait a few days before the guitar is delivered, but buying from Amazon at least ensures good delivery and customer service.

Who Is This Guitar For

For the amazing price (usually around $300, sometimes discounts go to as low as $150), the quality you get is definitely phenomenal. Just do not get your hopes too high, though – it is not a braggadocio stuff that you can show off to the folks who “have all the gear, but can’t play a dear”. We would recommend this guitar for those who are of beginner levels and intermediate ones, for sure. Advanced players may find this one interesting mainly because of its unique body composition and features, possibly.
