Not even “Okay Price” – it is A STEAL

It is literally a steal. The price for this guitar varies from place to place, but it is usually between $80 an $200, so it would qualify as a lower end cheap acoustic guitar, and as such one would expect pretty mediocre quality from such a bargain, right? far from it – it’s probably one of the best guitars in this price range, and many people actually feel that they should have bought jasmine instead of more expensive brand names, such as Martin or Gibson.

The Sound – Strumming The Highway Of Glory

This is where the Takamine Jasmine S-34C shines the best. If you were to compare the quality of the sound to other cheap acoustic guitars, the latter would not stand a chance. whether you’re playing blues mixes, jack johnson style or are into fingerpicking, this guitar will not let down.

Jasmine S34C is able to hold itself even when you are playing the most complex chords, fast or slow, and it will not produced the muddy sound that is so common when you’re picking an inexpensive acoustic guitar. The sound is bright and room filling when picking the high chords, and is warm, rich, and boomy when playing the low chords.

There is nothing tinny-sounding. I’ve played this Jasmine side-by-side with a friend playing a Martin. We didn’t sound silly together at all… this is definitely not a Wal-Mart guitar. It’s a quality instrument.

The Asian Brands Catch Up and Should Get More Exposure

Takamine is a Japanese brand of guitars makers. That’s right – Asian guitars have been impressing us with their improving quality of craftsmanship for a few years now already, and this is definitely something to keep in mind for those who are still considering to buy US counterparts.

As someone said on HarmonyCentral, if it wasn’t for the perceived value of the expensive brand names, such inexpensive guitars as Takamine would receive much greater exposure. And indeed it would.

I recommend that particular guitar to a lot of my students. It’s hard to find another guitar with the NEX body and cutaway, and that quality of construction for that price.

Action, Finish, and Durability

This will be it an individual case, but while lacking in gloss, the finish is smooth and great. It is natural spruce/mahogany, nato back and sides, rosewood fingerboard. As for reliability and durability – it surely does look and feel durable, and we bet that the guitar will last a long time. Carry the guitar along with you, use it all you want and fear not that it will crack or break.

Rating: ★★★★½

  • Great Sound. Rivals more expensive Martins and other famous acoustic guitars.
  • Good action and finish.
  • Good customer service (depends on where you buy it from).

  • Amazing Price For The Quality. You probably won’t find another guitar in this price range that would be just as amazing.
